Computer Services Specialist - Central Office

Questar III BOCES announces a full-time vacancy for a Computer Services Specialist to support Questar III and component school districts.  This position will be based in Castleton, NY. This position provides technical support in coordinating the purchase, installation, configuration and maintenance of computer related hardware, software, and associated peripherals (e.g., printers, copiers, scanners, etc.). This position also provides end user training to employees on workstation related applications (e.g., MS Office), employer provided technologies (e.g., email, calendaring & scheduling, VPN Remote access, wireless, etc.) and related employer usage guidelines, policies & or procedures. Preferred applicants will have experience providing large scale deployments of new software/hardware, and experience with both Microsoft and Apple platforms.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Either

(A) Graduation from a regionally accredited college or university or one accredited by the New York State Board of Regents to grant degrees with an Associate’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Technology or a related field; OR

(B) Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and 4 years of experience in computer operations and related peripherals; OR

(C) An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of (A) and (B) above.

Estimated pay range: $40,000 - $50,000 (commensurate with experience)

Health Benefits Analyst

Questar IIII BOCES has a full time 12-month Health Benefits Analyst position available at our Central Office in Castleton NY. This is an entry level position within our Financial Services Department working for the GASB 75 team. The Health Benefits Analyst is responsible for reviewing, analyzing, and maintaining post-employment benefit (OPEB) census information as submitted by district clients, as well as creating full valuation and disclosure reports for approximately 200 districts. Direct contact and interaction with clients and the GASB 75 team is an integral part of this position. The position is also responsible for evaluating the accuracy and integrity of information generated for financial reporting. The position also requires performing other related duties as assigned. (civil service title-Budget Analyst)

Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with an Associate’s degree Public Administration, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field and two years of work experience in a position that has its main focus responsibility for organizing, preparing, and applying a municipal, agency, or corporate budget.

PAYROLL & BENEFITS QUESTAR III BOCES BUSINESS OFFICE

Questar III BOCES, a regional provider of educational programs and services to school districts, has an immediate need for a full-time person to process Payroll & Benefits as part of our business office team. This position is centrally located at our Questar III Main Office in the East Greenbush/ Castleton, NY area and will perform a variety of payroll and benefit related duties to serve the internal operations of Questar III BOCES as described below.

Typical Work Activities:

  • Computes and makes appropriate payroll entries regarding hours worked, deduc­tions, tax changes, overtime, etc.
  • Processes bi-weekly payroll including direct deposits, union dues, garnishes, Federal and State Income Tax payments, etc.
  • Maintain and update automated payroll/personnel system.
  • Prepares and verifies Retirement System Report monthly, quarterly and annual­ly for New York State Retirement System and New York State Teacher's Retirement System.
  • Prepare year-end reports for State and Federal Government.
  • Processes and maintains enrollment data pertaining to employee's benefits.
  • Answers telephone and written requests from employees concerning payroll/benefits related personnel matters.
  • Assists with year-end audit
  • Completes other related duties as assigned by supervisor.  

 

Minimum Qualifications:

Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and two (2) years of experience involving the maintenance of financial accounts and records.  Preferred applicants will have two or more years of experience processing payroll and benefits.

Grant Writer

Questar III BOCES announces an exciting opportunity for a full time Grant Writer in our agency. This position will work with a variety of stakeholders and be responsible for the research, review, and preparation of grant proposals for funding to support our work. Applicants for the position should have a broad knowledge of how to seek out funding sources for educational initiatives, have strong interpersonal qualities, exceptional writing and research skills, be able to plan and organize effectively when dealing with multiple opportunities, as well as have a solid understanding of the financial aspects of grant development.

A Bachelor’s degree with a minimum two years of successful grant writing experience required. Preferred candidates will have grant writing experience in an educational setting.

Estimated pay range: $89,000 - $119,000 (commensurate with experience)

Dual Language Program Support Specialist Capital District Regional Bilingual Education Resource Net

Questar III BOCES is seeking an experienced, dynamic individual to fill the position of Dual Language Program Support Specialist, Capital District Regional Bilingual Education Resource Network (CD RBERN). CD RBERN at Questar III serves several counties in northeastern New York, providing technical assistance and professional development to districts/schools in order to improve instructional practices and educational outcomes of students who are English Language Learners (ELLs). The RBERN is funded through a contract awarded by the New York State Education Department (NYSED). Key areas of the role are coaching and modeling best practices for Dual Language and ENL teachers; presenting and training on national trends, guiding principles and best practices in Dual Language program development, implementation and evaluation; assisting with the management of professional development calendars and the CD RBERN website; disseminating ENL and Dual Language specific information and resources to stakeholders within the CD RBERN service area; and other duties as assigned by the RBERN Director. This is a full time probationary position based out of our central office in Castleton, NY with travel expected to local school districts.

Minimum Qualifications for the position include NYS teaching certification in ESOL (all grades) OR Early Childhood Education (Birth-Grade 2) OR Childhood Education (Grades 1-6) with a Bilingual Education Extension, five (5) years of successful teaching and/or coaching experience in an educational setting; oral and written proficiency in Spanish and English; excellent communication and presentation abilities; a collaborative and team-oriented mindset. Preferred applicants will have experience in educational research and improvement initiatives specific to Dual Language program implementation.
