About
Questar III BOCES is seeking a qualified bilingual resource specialist to join the RBERN team at the main office in Castleton, NY. The ideal candidate is a dynamic and knowledgeable educator who can provide technical assistance and professional development for educators serving MLLs/ELLs. While doing so, the incumbent will disseminate updates on federal and state regulations impacting bilingual education. They will also implement the objectives outlined in the annual RBERN Action Plan while assisting in planning district professional development programs aligned with NYSED requirements. They will participate in professional development conducted by other RBERNs, NYSED, and other educational entities, develop and distribute electronic communications, such as newsletters, webinars, and instructional videos. The incumbent will support PR/HYLI initiatives and attend statewide RBERN staff meetings. They should be familiar with collecting, analyzing, and reporting data to measure the effectiveness of bilingual education programs as part of their reporting duties.
Minimum Qualifications:

NYS certification in Spanish and a minimum of five years of K-6 or 7-12 Teaching experience. Excellent oral and written communication skills are required. Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

Prefer experience in offering professional development to educators, strong understanding of second language acquisition and pedagogy, knowledge of NYS standards and assessments as they pertain to LEP/ELL students, and knowledge of Spanish language and Hispanic culture.
