Questar III BOCES announces a Full-time Cleaner position available immediately for our facilities in Durham NY. We are seeking reliable and detail-oriented substitute cleaners who are available to work on both short and advance notice. This position is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and functional environment for students, staff, and visitors across assigned school district facilities.

Shift hours will be dependent on staffing needs in each location.

High school diploma or equivalent and valid NYS driver’s license required.

Ideal candidates will have facility maintenance experience and flexibility to work both 1st and 2nd shift schedules.

Construction Technician

About the Job

Questar III BOCES has a full-time Construction Technician position available based at our Marilyn Noonan School located in Durham, NY. This position will provide construction and building maintenance services for all Questar III BOCES owned facilities.  Candidate will provide scheduled maintenance of building equipment; installation and service of equipment and materials; design of small construction and maintenance projects; procure and install equipment/materials; respond to emergency calls at all Questar owned facilities and conduct snow removal as required.  Candidates must have current skills and knowledge of carpentry, painting, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and related trades

Responsibilities

  • Maintain all BOCES owned facilities and equipment.
  • Procure and install equipment and materials as directed by supervisor.
  • Initiates and supplies all information needed for reports required by local, state, and federal authorities
  • Maintains all records and plans as directed by the supervisor. 
  • Designs small construction and maintenance projects
  • Estimates costs in terms of labor and material for small projects
  • Provides preventative maintenance on a regulated basis
  • Responds to emergency service calls at all BOCES locations
  • Works according to schedule established by supervisor.
  • Assumes responsibility for direction of contractors and/or sub-contractors on job sites.
  • Performs other tasks as directed by the supervisor.

Must be available to work overtime as needed. Valid NYS driver’s license required.  High school diploma or equivalent and minimum three (3) years job related construction or building maintenance experience is required. Previous facility maintenance experience and knowledge preferred.

Questar III BOCES announces a vacancy for a full-time probationary Special Education Teacher. Our programs offer a highly supportive environment for students with varying disabilities. Our multidisciplinary teams work closely to offer support in the areas of social-emotional learning, academics, communication, and behavior.  

Requirements:

  • Proper NYS Students with Disabilities certification required (SWD 1-6, 5-9, or 7-12)
  • Applicants who recently graduated and that are pursuing NYS Teacher certification are also encouraged to apply
  • Preferred candidates will have dual certification, strong classroom management skills, a background in trauma-informed care, Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) and experience working with a team to implement Multi-tiered Systems of Support (MTSS)
