Questar III BOCES announces vacancies for Part-Time Fire Systems Laborer positions based out of our 1070 Rte. 9 location in Schodack, NY. These positions will work with a Questar III BOCES Fire Systems Specialist to inspect and service all classes of fire extinguishers and fire alarm systems; complete related tasks pertaining to inspection and service reports; and provide customer service excellence to our clients.

Additional duties may include assisting in maintaining, cleaning, and testing fire alarm systems. 

Qualified candidates must be self-directed, have the ability to work in a team atmosphere, possess mechanical skills, troubleshooting abilities, have good communication skills, and have the availability to work 2nd shift hours (2 pm- 10:30 pm). 

Workload includes servicing multiple clients across the greater Capital Region using provided service vehicles. 

Candidates must have a clean driving record and have reliable transportation to report to the main work location. Advancement opportunities are available.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

High school diploma or equivalent

Valid NYS driver’s license

Basic computer skills

Experience with various hand tools

Ability to lift fifty pounds (50 lbs) 

Hourly pay for this position is $20.00 per hour.

About

Questar III BOCES has an immediate need for a full-time Fire Systems Alarm Mechanic based on growing service needs. This position is based out of our 1070 Rte. 9 location in Schodack, NY.

The Fire System Mechanic will work with our school district customers to inspect, test and maintain fire alarm systems; inspect, maintain and service all classes of fire extinguishers; complete related inspection and service reports in a timely and accurate manner; and provide excellent customer service to our clients.

Qualified candidates must be self-directed, have the ability to work unsupervised, possess mechanical skills, troubleshooting abilities and have excellent communication skills. 

This position will primarily require availability for 2nd shift hours (2 pm- 10:30 pm), and at times 1st shift hours based on seasonal requirements, and travel locally in service vehicles.

 MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

High school diploma or equivalent

Valid NYS driver’s license

Basic computer skills

Experience with use of various hand tools

Ability to lift fifty pounds (50 Lbs)

Preferred candidates will have knowledge of testing and maintaining fire alarm systems and fire extinguishers. 

Knowledge and/or experience in inspecting kitchen hood systems is a plus.
