Job Description:

We are seeking a dedicated and qualified Math Teacher to cover a maternity leave period. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality mathematics instruction to students at STEM High School (Troy, NY) following the established curriculum. This is a temporary, full-time position for the duration of the leave, expected to last approximately 2 -3 months, beginning at the end of January 2026 and lasting through the end of March 2026.

Responsibilities

  • Instruction and Curriculum:

    • Teach a full course load of mathematics classes, which may include Algebra I, and Geometry.

    • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging, effective, and differentiated lessons that adhere to the school's curriculum and academic standards.

    • Utilize a variety of instructional techniques and technology to meet the diverse needs and interests of students.

  • Assessment and Feedback:

    • Develop, administer, and grade assignments, quizzes, tests, and projects in a timely manner.

    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date student records, including grades and attendance.

    • Provide constructive and timely feedback to students and communicate progress to parents/guardians as needed.

  • Classroom Management:

    • Establish and maintain a positive, structured, and respectful learning environment.

    • Manage student behavior in accordance with school policies.

    • Ensure the safety and well-being of all students.

  • Professionalism and Collaboration:

    • Participate in departmental and faculty meetings, professional development, and collaborative planning sessions as required.

    • Collaborate with other teachers and staff to ensure a cohesive educational experience.

    • Maintain professional ethical standards and confidentiality.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Education, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.

  • Certification/Licensure: Current and valid NYS Teaching Certification in Secondary Mathematics Grade Levels 7-12.

  • A minimum of 1-3 years of successful teaching experience at the secondary level is highly preferred. 

Skills:

  • Excellent knowledge of mathematical concepts and pedagogy.

  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.

  • Proficiency in educational technology and virtual learning platforms (e.g., Google Classroom, Canvas).

Adult Education Teacher - Part Time

Questar III BOCES has a Part-Time (6 hours a week) Adult Education Teacher vacancy. This position will provide instruction and assessment for adult students in pursuit of their High School Equivalency diploma. Proper NYS certification in Adult Education (or eligibility for at time of hire) is required. NYS Secondary teacher certification preferred. Preferred candidates will be familiar with TABE and GED instruction.

A certified teacher will instruct adult students in the four subject areas (English, Science, Social Studies and Math) that are covered on the GED exam. The teacher will be responsible for recording the students' attendance, assessments, and assignments while evaluating their progress. The teacher will attend staff meetings and professional development training as needed.

Hourly Pay Range: $37.00 - $39.20 an hour

Questar III BOCES announces a Full-Time English as a New Language (ENL) Teacher to join our team and serve students across our participating Schools Districts. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of second language acquisition and be skilled in creating a culturally responsive and engaging learning environment. This role involves working with students from various linguistic and cultural backgrounds to develop their English language proficiency in all four domains: listening, speaking, reading, and writing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Instruction: Develop and implement effective, standards-aligned ENL curriculum and lesson plans for students at various proficiency levels (entering, emerging, developing, expanding, and bridging).
  • Assessment: Administer and interpret a variety of language proficiency assessments to monitor student progress and inform instruction.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with general education teachers, special education teachers, administrators, and other staff to support the academic and social-emotional needs of ENL students.
  • Student Support: Provide push-in and/or pull-out services to support students in their general education classes and in small-group settings.
  • Family Engagement: Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding their child's progress and provide resources to support language development at home.
  • Professional Development: Stay current with best practices in ENL instruction, including new methodologies, technologies, and research.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student progress, attendance, and all required documentation.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in TESOL, ENL, Bilingual Education, or a related field.
  • Certification: Valid state teaching certification in English as a New Language (ENL) or TESOL. New York State Certification in ESOL (K-12)
  • Experience: Previous experience teaching ENL or bilingual students is highly preferred.
  • Skills:
    • Strong knowledge of second language acquisition theories and instructional strategies.
    • Ability to differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of learners.
    • Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
    • Proficiency in using educational technology and a variety of teaching tools.
    • Bilingual proficiency in a language common to the school's student population is a plus.

Appropriate NYS Certification required.  This position requires the incumbent to travel to participating School Districts and therefore requires reliable transportation.
