About

Questar III BOCES announces a Full-Time Itinerant English as a New Language (ENL) Teacher to join our team and serve students across our participating Schools Districts. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of second language acquisition and be skilled in creating a culturally responsive and engaging learning environment. This role involves working with students from various linguistic and cultural backgrounds to develop their English language proficiency in all four domains: listening, speaking, reading, and writing.

Key Responsibilities:

• Instruction: Develop and implement effective, standards-aligned ENL curriculum and lesson plans for students at various proficiency levels (entering, emerging, developing, expanding, and bridging).
• Assessment: Administer and interpret a variety of language proficiency assessments to monitor student progress and inform instruction.
• Collaboration: Collaborate with general education teachers, special education teachers, administrators, and other staff to support the academic and social-emotional needs of ENL students.
• Student Support: Provide push-in and/or pull-out services to support students in their general education classes and in small-group settings.
• Family Engagement: Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding their child's progress and provide resources to support language development at home.
• Professional Development: Stay current with best practices in ENL instruction, including new methodologies, technologies, and research.
• Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student progress, attendance, and all required documentation.

Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in TESOL, ENL, Bilingual Education, or a related field.
• Certification: Valid state teaching certification in English as a New Language (ENL) or TESOL. New York State Certification in ESOL (K-12)
• Experience: Previous experience teaching ENL or bilingual students is highly preferred.
• Skills:
  • Strong knowledge of second language acquisition theories and instructional strategies.
  • Ability to differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of learners.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in using educational technology and a variety of teaching tools.
  • Bilingual proficiency in a language common to the school's student population is a plus.

Appropriate NYS Certification required.  This position requires the incumbent to travel to participating School Districts and therefore requires reliable transportation.

About the Job

The Gaming and Multimedia CTE Teacher is responsible for designing and delivering an engaging, project-based Career and Technical Education (CTE) program that prepares students for careers and post secondary opportunities in game development, interactive media, digital design, animation, multimedia production, and related technology fields.

The teacher will foster a hands-on, industry-aligned learning environment where students develop technical, creative, communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills through authentic projects. The ideal candidate is passionate about technology and creative media and is adept at connecting classroom instruction to real-world applications, industry standards, and career pathways.

Responsibilities 

Curriculum, Instruction & Assessment 

• Design, implement, and deliver a rigorous, project-based curriculum covering game design and development, digital storytelling, graphic design, animation, audio/video production, 3D modeling, interactive media, coding, and emerging technologies.

• Cultivate a hands-on classroom environment focused on problem-solving, collaboration, critical thinking, and technical mastery.

• Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs, abilities, and interests of all students.

• Assess student technical skill acquisition, project outcomes, and professional competencies using industry-aligned rubrics and performance-based measures.

Industry Alignment & Career Readiness 

• Connect classroom learning to industry practices, emerging technology trends, and post secondary/career pathways.

• Guide students in building professional portfolios, technical skill sets, and soft skills (communication, teamwork, time management).

• Facilitate opportunities for students to earn industry-recognized certifications and participate in career exploration (e.g., guest speakers, field trips, internships).

• Establish and maintain an active CTE Advisory Committee comprising industry professionals to ensure curriculum relevance.

Classroom & Lab Management

• Maintain a safe, collaborative, and professional classroom/lab environment conducive to creative and technical work.

• Manage, maintain, and troubleshoot specialized classroom hardware, software, licenses, and media production equipment.

• Instruct and enforce safe, responsible, and ethical use of technology and digital media assets.

Student Leadership & Professional Engagement 

• Sponsor or support relevant Career and Technical Student Organizations (CTSOs) such as TSA (Technology Student Association) or SkillsUSA, guiding students in competitions and leadership development.

• Collaborate with colleagues, CTE leadership, school counselors, and parents to support student achievement and program growth.

• Engage in continuous professional development to stay current with evolving multimedia tools, game engines, and instructional technologies.

Qualifications 

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Game Design, Interactive Media, Computer Science, Digital Media, Education, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).

Certification: State Teaching Certification in Career and Technical Education (CTE), Technology Education, Computer Science, or eligibility for alternative/vocational licensure based on industry experience.

Industry Experience: Professional background or demonstrated proficiency in game development, 3D modeling, animation, digital design, or multimedia production is strongly preferred.

Skills

Technical Proficiency: Experience with industry-standard software and tools, such as:

• Game Engines (e.g., Unity, Unreal Engine)

• 3D Modeling & Animation (e.g., Blender, Maya, 3ds Max)

• Adobe Creative Cloud Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, After Effects)

• Coding/Scripting languages used in game design (e.g., C#, Python, C++)

Pedagogical Skills: Strong foundation in project-based learning (PBL), curriculum design, and authentic assessment strategies.

Interpersonal Skills: Exceptional communication, classroom management, and relationship-building skills to mentor high school students and collaborate with industry partners.

The Probationary Special Education (SPED)/Literacy Teacher provides specialized instruction and literacy intervention to students with disabilities and those requiring targeted reading support. Working collaboratively with general education teachers, administrators, specialists, and families, this educator develops and implements individualized instructional plans that promote academic growth, literacy development, and student success in an inclusive learning environment. This probationary position offers mentorship, professional development, and ongoing performance support during the probationary period.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, evidence-based instruction in reading, writing, and literacy skills aligned with state standards and district curriculum.

• Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.

• Conduct ongoing assessments to identify student needs, monitor progress, and adjust instruction accordingly.

• Deliver specialized instruction in individual, small-group, and inclusive classroom settings.

• Collaborate with classroom teachers to differentiate instruction and implement accommodations and modifications.

• Maintain accurate documentation of student progress, IEP goals, assessments, and required compliance records.

• Participate in IEP meetings, multidisciplinary team meetings, and parent conferences.

• Familiarity with Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS), Response to Intervention (RTI), and Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS).

• Experience using educational technology and data-driven instructional practices.

Gibson Special Education School is seeking a dedicated, student-centered Special Education/Mathematics Teacher to provide high-quality, standards-based instruction to students with disabilities in a supportive educational environment. The successful candidate will deliver individualized instruction aligned with New York State Learning Standards while implementing students' Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). This educator will foster academic achievement, social-emotional growth, and independence through evidence-based instructional practices and collaboration with families and multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

Instruction and Curriculum

• Plan and deliver engaging mathematics instruction aligned with the New York State Learning Standards.

• Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse academic, behavioral, communication, and social-emotional needs of students with disabilities.

• Develop and implement lesson plans that incorporate evidence-based instructional strategies.

Special Education Responsibilities

• Implement all components of students' Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).

• Develop measurable goals and objectives in collaboration with the Committee on Special Education (CSE).

• Monitor student progress toward IEP goals and maintain accurate documentation.

• Participate in CSE meetings, annual reviews, reevaluations, and related planning meetings.

• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and district special education regulations.

Classroom Management

• Establish and maintain a structured, positive, and inclusive learning environment.

• Implement behavior intervention plans and utilize positive behavioral supports.

• Promote student independence, self-advocacy, and appropriate social interactions.

• Maintain a safe classroom environment consistent with district policies.

Collaboration

• Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, teaching assistants, administrators, and families to support student success.

• Maintain ongoing communication with parents and guardians regarding student progress.

• Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and professional learning communities.

• Work collaboratively with school staff to develop and implement student supports.

Professional Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate student records, attendance, grades, and required documentation.

• Participate in professional development and district initiatives.

• Maintain confidentiality of student records in accordance with FERPA and applicable laws.

• Perform other duties as assigned by the Building Principal or designee.

Qualifications

• Valid New York State Teaching Certification in Special Education.

• Appropriate New York State certification to teach Mathematics (or eligibility as required by assignment).

• Demonstrated knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and best practices.

• Knowledge of differentiated instruction, progress monitoring, and data-driven decision making.
