About the Job

Questar III BOCES is seeking a passionate and innovative Automotive Technology Teacher to join our team and support our Career and Technical Education (CTE) and Career Studies (CS) programs for students. This position offers a unique opportunity to integrate Automotive techniques with real-world applications, delivering effective instruction and support in CTE curricular areas preparing students for successful careers in diverse fields. The program provides focused hands-on training as well as classroom instruction suited for diverse learning styles. Students will cover topics such as brake systems, suspension systems, beginning electrical including reading wire diagrams, and engine rebuild.


Responsibilities

  • Successful candidates will actively engage and prepare students to succeed in the profession of Automotive Services. 
  • Plans a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students and which is compatible with area job market needs. 
  • Assesses the progress of students on a regular basis and maintains organized up-to-date records of each student’s progress. 
  • Maintains appropriate classroom order and adequate student supervision; implements all policies governing student conduct; assists in supervision of students throughout the building and on student grounds.   


Qualifications:

  • Must possess, or be willing to pursue, a NYS teaching certification through the Transitional Certification process in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair Operations.
  • Applicable work experience will qualify an applicant to pursue NYS certification through the non-traditional Transitional A teacher pathway (advanced degrees are not required).
  • Applicants with experience in Welding and/or Metal Fabrication are encouraged to apply. 
  • Preferred applicants will have vehicle maintenance experience and experience working with high school age students in an educational setting.
