Job Description

Questar III BOCES is seeking an experienced, dynamic individual to fill the position of Dual Language Program Support Specialist, Capital District Regional Bilingual Education Resource Network (CD RBERN). CD RBERN at Questar III serves several counties in northeastern New York, providing technical assistance and professional development to districts/schools in order to improve instructional practices and educational outcomes of students who are English Language Learners (ELLs). The RBERN is funded through a contract awarded by the New York State Education Department (NYSED).

Responsibilities:

  • Coaching and modeling best practices for Dual Language and ENL teachers
  • Presenting and training on national trends, guiding principles and best practices in Dual Language program development
  • Implementation and evaluation; assisting with the management of professional development calendars and the CD RBERN website
  • Disseminating ENL and Dual Language specific information and resources to stakeholders within the CD RBERN service area
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • NYS teaching certification in ESOL (all grades) OR
  • Early Childhood Education (Birth-Grade 2) OR
  • Childhood Education (Grades 1-6) with a Bilingual Education Extension, five (5) years of successful teaching and/or coaching experience in an educational setting
  • Oral and written proficiency in Spanish and English
  • Excellent communication and presentation abilities with a collaborative and team-oriented mindset

PAYROLL & BENEFITS QUESTAR III BOCES BUSINESS OFFICE

Job Description

Questar III BOCES, a regional provider of educational programs and services to school districts, has an immediate need for a full-time person to process Payroll & Benefits as part of our business office team. This position is centrally located at our Questar III Main Office in the East Greenbush/ Castleton, NY area and will perform a variety of payroll and benefit related duties to serve the internal operations of Questar III BOCES as described below.

Responsibilities:

  • Computes and makes appropriate payroll entries regarding hours worked, deduc­tions, tax changes, overtime, etc.
  • Processes bi-weekly payroll including direct deposits, union dues, garnishes, Federal and State Income Tax payments, etc.
  • Maintain and update automated payroll/personnel system.
  • Prepares and verifies Retirement System Report monthly, quarterly and annual­ly for New York State Retirement System and New York State Teacher's Retirement System.
  • Prepare year-end reports for State and Federal Government.
  • Processes and maintains enrollment data pertaining to employee's benefits.
  • Answers telephone and written requests from employees concerning payroll/benefits related personnel matters.
  • Assists with year-end audit
  • Completes other related duties as assigned by supervisor.  

 Requirements:

  • Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and two (2) years of experience involving the maintenance of financial accounts and records
  • Preferred applicants will have two or more years of experience processing payroll and benefits

Communications Specialist

Job Description

Questar III BOCES is seeking a full-time Communications Specialist (Civil Service title: Public Information Specialist) to provide onsite support to school districts in Rensselaer, Columbia, and/or Greene Counties.

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with school district personnel to develop a wide variety of communications for websites, social media, the media, and publications
  • Develops and/or executes social media and content strategies to release information on the organization in a manner that will promote a positive public image
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements: 

  • Graduation from a regionally accredited or NYS registered college or university with a bachelor's degree in media technology, journalism, communi­cations, public affairs, public relations, marketing, English or closely related field;  OR
  • Graduation from a regionally accredited or NYS registered two year college or university with an associate's degree in media technology, jour­nalism, communications, public affairs, public relations, marketing, English or closely related field and two years of experience in public relations, advertising, communi­cation relations, publicity, public information or journalism;  OR
  • Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and four years of experience as described in (b) above;  OR
  • An equivalent combination of training and experience as outlined by the limits of (A), (B), and (C) above
  • Must have strong written and verbal communications skills, and the ability to work with various stakeholder groups
  • Basic knowledge of, or a willingness to learn, photography, videography, and graphic design

Grant Writer

Questar III BOCES announces an exciting opportunity for a full time Grant Writer in our agency. This position will work with a variety of stakeholders and be responsible for the research, review, and preparation of grant proposals for funding to support our work.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Research various types of Educational initiative grants available and the criteria to qualify for each
  • Discusses available sources of funding with administrative managers
  • Drafts and completes grant applications according to application requirements
  • Ensures grant is submitted on time and within application parameters
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree with a minimum two years of successful grant writing experience required
  • Preferred candidates will have grant writing experience in an educational setting
  • Thorough understanding of grant funding policies and procedures and applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Strong interpersonal qualities that include exceptional writing and research skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software

Estimated pay range: $89,000 - $119,000 (commensurate with experience)

Talent Acquisition Specialist/HR Recruiter

Questar III BOCES, a leading provider of educational and administrative services to school districts and students in the Rensselaer, Columbia, and Greene County region, as well as to several school districts across NYS, is seeking a dynamic and innovative individual to join our HR team in the position of Talent Acquisition Specialist/HR Recruiter. This position is based out of our central office in the Castleton-East Greenbush, NY area.
The Talent Acquisition Specialist will support a comprehensive organizational recruitment strategy; work collaboratively with HR staff, key stakeholders, and hiring supervisors during the employment process; and oversee processing and onboarding of new staff. The work is done under the direct supervision of the Chief Human Resources Officer, with leeway allowed for the exercise of independent judgment in planning and fulfilling responsibilities. An employee in this position is required to exercise the highest discretion to insure confidentiality of all Questar employment matters and human resources areas.

A Bachelor’s degree in business / human resource management or related fields and 1-2 years relevant experience. An Associate’s degree as indicated above and at least four or more years of relevant experience is also acceptable. Experience with fostering high-touch relationships using a database of qualified candidates as well as building relationships with social networks, colleges, trade schools, and other platforms a plus.
