Job Description:

Questar III BOCES is seeking a full-time Graphic Design Specialist to provide support to the BOCES as well as school districts in Rensselaer, Columbia, and Greene Counties. This position is responsible for designing for both digital and print mediums. This will include designing flyers, posters, invitations, brochures, banners, signage, logos, icons, illustrations, postcards, reports, and more. 

The ideal candidate will be familiar with ensuring brand guidelines are met and will have experience working with project management software. Additionally, this position will be responsible for creating internal and external communications with an emphasis on press releases, social media posts, and website content creation. A candidate should be able to comfortably interact with staff, students, and leadership. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Develop high-quality visual materials, including brochures, reports, infographics, posters, newsletters, social media graphics, and more to support programs, services, and initiatives. 
  • Create branding and marketing materials for component school districts, ensuring alignment with district-specific brand standards.
  • Design print and digital layouts that effectively communicate information to students, families, educators, and community partners. 
  • Produce graphics for websites, email campaigns, video content, and presentations. 
  • Work directly with program directors, administrators, teachers, and communications staff to conceptualize and develop creative solutions that meet project needs. 
  • Manage multiple design projects simultaneously, prioritizing deadlines and keeping track of workflow in a project management database. 
  • Support public relations efforts by creating press releases, website and social media content, newsletters, and more. 

Minimum Requirements: 

Graduation from a regionally accredited or NYS registered college or university with a bachelor's degree in a closely related field; 

OR 

Graduation from a regionally accredited or NYS registered two-year college or university with an associate's degree in a closely related field and two years of experience in graphic design, advertising, or communications;

OR

Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and four years of experience as described in (b) above. 

Basic knowledge of, or a willingness to learn, photography, videography, and other communications skills.  

Applicants should be able to provide a portfolio of work samples.

Columbia County Civil Service residency requirements will apply (must be a resident of Albany, Rensselaer, Columbia, Greene, Ulster or Dutchess County at time of hire).
