About

Questar III BOCES announces an immediate vacancy for a full-time Administrative Assistant to support the Regional Bilingual Education Resource Network (RBERN) service located at our Central Office in Castleton, NY.  This position will contribute to the effective and efficient operation of the RBERN office and will participate in the daily functioning of the program.  

Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:  handling office management duties, budget management support, coordinating and scheduling meetings and appointments, client database management, processing district requests, sorting mail, coordinating meetings, scheduling appointments,  screening calls, database management, handling expense reports, hotel accommodations, and conference registrations for the RBERN team, material duplication, and budgetary processes for conferences hosted by the CD RBERN,  Support PRHYLI student applications, prepare session materials, coordinate lunch for student participants, and ensure effective communication with chaperons for weekend institutes. Play a critical role in sustaining the operational and logistical needs of the expanding CD RBERN service regions and other tasks as assigned by the Administrator and other tasks as assigned by the Director.

Qualified applicants must meet Columbia County Civil Service minimum qualifications as outlined below and have the ability to demonstrate bilingual Spanish-speaking skills.  Civil Service residency requirements will apply (must be a resident of Albany, Rensselaer, Columbia, Greene, Ulster or Dutchess County at time of hire).  

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma, demonstrated bilingual skills, and EITHER:

a). Six years of clerical experience, at least three of which shall have been in an administrative or supervisory capacity; OR:

b). An associate degree in secretarial science and four years of clerical experience, at least two of which have been in an administrative or supervisory capacity; OR:

c).  Graduation from a recognized four-year college or university and two years of experience as defined in "B" above.

Dual Language Program Support Specialist Capital District Regional Bilingual Education Resource Net

Job Description

Questar III BOCES is seeking an experienced, dynamic individual to fill the position of Dual Language Program Support Specialist, Capital District Regional Bilingual Education Resource Network (CD RBERN). CD RBERN at Questar III serves several counties in northeastern New York, providing technical assistance and professional development to districts/schools in order to improve instructional practices and educational outcomes of students who are English Language Learners (ELLs). The RBERN is funded through a contract awarded by the New York State Education Department (NYSED).

Responsibilities:

  • Coaching and modeling best practices for Dual Language and ENL teachers
  • Presenting and training on national trends, guiding principles and best practices in Dual Language program development
  • Implementation and evaluation; assisting with the management of professional development calendars and the CD RBERN website
  • Disseminating ENL and Dual Language specific information and resources to stakeholders within the CD RBERN service area
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • NYS teaching certification in ESOL (all grades) OR
  • Early Childhood Education (Birth-Grade 2) OR
  • Childhood Education (Grades 1-6) with a Bilingual Education Extension, five (5) years of successful teaching and/or coaching experience in an educational setting
  • Oral and written proficiency in Spanish and English
  • Excellent communication and presentation abilities with a collaborative and team-oriented mindset
  • Preferred applicants will have experience in educational research and improvement initiatives specific to Dual Language program implementation

Computer Services Specialist II

About

The Computer Services Specialist II is a key technical support position within the Technology Services Department, supporting both Questar III and its component school districts. This role is designed for individuals with a strong foundation in school-based technology, who are skilled in troubleshooting, deploying, and training on essential tools and applications used within an educational environment.

The Computer Services Specialist II is responsible for coordinating the purchase, installation, configuration, and maintenance of computer-related hardware, software, and associated peripherals, such as phone systems, printers, copiers, and scanners. This role provides end-user training on workstation-related applications (e.g., MS Office), employer-provided technologies (e.g., email, calendaring, VPN, and wireless access), and relevant guidelines, policies, and procedures. 

The Specialist II is also involved in deployments of new software and hardware, working across both Microsoft and Apple platforms.

Additional technical responsibilities include network troubleshooting, VLAN assignments, switch configurations, Cisco phone system support, and WordPress management. Experience with school information systems, database software, and data migration processes is beneficial for this role. 

Candidates for this role should embody "The Leading Edge" characteristics, including continuous learning, customer-focused service, and collaboration. The ideal candidate will have experience in technology deployments, advanced troubleshooting skills, and familiarity with both Microsoft and Apple platforms.

Job Description:

Questar III BOCES is looking for a full-time Senior Clerk to support our Career Technical Education (CTE) and New Visions Programs. Responsibilities will include managing phone lines and Outlook calendars, coordinating and scheduling meetings, budget management support, processing Purchase Orders, field trip requests, travel arrangements and coordination, purchasing as well as other tasks as assigned by the supervisor.  The successful candidate must possess excellent organization, communication and customer service skills, have basic computer skills, including the Microsoft suite, and have the ability to multitask in a busy work environment.  

Qualifications:

High School Diploma with at least one year of clerical / administrative support experience. (Per Civil Service requirements).
