About
The Health & Safety Student Intern provides administrative support to the Health & Safety Department while gaining practical exposure to workplace health, safety, and risk management services within a public education environment. This internship offers students the opportunity to develop professional office skills, learn about regulatory compliance and safety programs, and gain insight into the operations of a regional educational service agency supporting school districts.
Working under the direction of the Health & Safety team, the intern assists with a variety of clerical, organizational, and project-based tasks that contribute to the efficient operation of the department.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Provide general administrative and clerical support to the Health & Safety Department.

Organize, file, scan, copy, and electronically archive departmental records and documentation.

Assist with processing forms, reports, and other department paperwork.

Prepare, edit, and format documents, spreadsheets, presentations, and correspondence.

Enter, verify, and maintain data in department databases and tracking systems.

Assemble training materials, packets, and meeting documents.

Assist with inventory, supply organization, and manual office tasks.

Support special projects related to health, safety, emergency preparedness, and risk management initiatives.

Maintain confidentiality of sensitive employee and organizational information.

Perform other administrative duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Current high school, college, or university student.

Interest in public administration, occupational health and safety, emergency management, business administration, human resources, education, or a related field preferred.

Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).

Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with department staff.

Demonstrated professionalism, reliability, and discretion when handling confidential information.
Physical Requirements

Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.

Ability to lift and carry office materials weighing up to 25 pounds.

Ability to perform filing, scanning, copying, and other routine office tasks.
Work Environment
This position is primarily based in a professional office environment within the Health & Safety Department. The intern will work alongside experienced professionals and may have opportunities to observe departmental activities that support schools throughout the region.
