About
Questar III BOCES has an immediate opening for the Director of Health and Safety at our Central Office Location. This position is responsible for the oversight of the Health and Safety Service which provides a multitude of safety services to the BOCES and school districts both inside and outside of our regions.
Duties/ Responsibilities:
- Maintains a comprehensive health, safety, and risk management program for the BOCES and schools in compliance with Federal, State and local regulations.
- Extensive knowledge of NYS Fire Code and prevention; NYS Education Department regulations, including current school safety standards and best practices ; hazardous materials management; related environmental regulations; workplace hazards and mitigation strategies; accident investigation; OSHA safety standards and related plans
- Acts as the liaison with Federal, State, local and private agencies on health and safety matters
- Establishes cooperative working relationships with participating school districts and other agencies
- Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local safety laws, regulations, codes, and rules
- Ability to develop and conduct health and safety procedure training programs
- Conducts safety inspections and audits to assess employee compliance with safety regulations.
- Excellent written, verbal, and organizational skills with attention to detail
- Strong supervisory, leadership, and vision qualities are a must
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: EITHER;
a) Graduation from a regionally accredited or NYS registered college or university with a Bachelor's degree and two years of experience in occupational safety and health programming or related field;
OR
b) Graduation from a regionally accredited or NYS registered college or university with an Associate's degree and four years experience as described in (a) above;
OR
c) Eight years of experience as described in (a).
