About
The Teacher's Aide works under the direct supervision of a Certified Classroom Teacher, in partnership with Certified Teaching Assistants, to provide support for instructional activities, classroom management, and student well-being. This role is crucial in assisting educators in creating an effective and positive learning environment, allowing teachers to focus more on individualized instruction and curriculum delivery. The ideal candidate will be patient, adaptable, enthusiastic, and possess a genuine passion for supporting student learning and development.
Responsibilities:

Instructional Support:

Classroom Management & Environment:

Maintain a positive, organized, and safe classroom environment.

Assist with supervising students during non-instructional times, including lunch, recess, and transitions between classes.

Student Support:
-
Provide assistance to students with special needs as directed by the teacher and IEP/504 plans (e.g., mobility, feeding, personal care, if applicable and trained).

Administrative & Clerical Support:

Assist the teacher with clerical tasks, such as copying, filing, grading papers (non-evaluative), and organizing student records.

Prepare bulletin boards and other classroom displays.

Communication & Professionalism:

Communicate effectively and professionally with teachers, staff, students, and parents (as directed by the teacher).

Maintain the confidentiality of all student information.
Qualifications:

Education:
-
High School Diploma or GED required.
-
Associate's degree or completion of an approved Teacher's Aide program preferred.

Candidates with a paraprofessional certificate or equivalent as required by New York State are strongly encouraged to apply.
