Job Description

Questar IIII BOCES has a full-time 12-month Budget Analyst position available at our Central Office in Castleton, NY. This is an entry-level position with the GASB 75 team. The Budget Analyst is responsible for reviewing, analyzing, and maintaining census information as submitted by district clients, as well as creating full valuation and disclosure reports for approximately 200 districts. Direct contact and interaction with clients and the GASB 75 team is an integral part of this position. The position is also responsible for evaluating the accuracy and integrity of information generated for financial reporting; performing other related duties as assigned.

Job Requirements and Responsibilities:

• Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and Adobe
• Effectively communicate with clients and with team members
• Cleaning census data, reviewing contracts, and submitting questions to district clients
• Analyzing district responses for reasonableness
• Adjusting and confirming reliability of data for reporting purposes
• Strong time management skills and ability to balance working with multiple clients at once
• Basic understanding of health insurance procedures and terminology
• Ability to use judgment, rationalize, and interpret information
• Comfortable working on and learning new software

Minimum Qualifications:

1. Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field

2. Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with an Associate’s degree in Public Administration, Accounting, Business Administration or related field and two years of work experience in a position that has its main focus responsibility for organizing and preparing and applying a municipal, agency, or corporate budget.
