These positions will work with a Questar III Fire Systems Specialist to inspect and service all classes of fire extinguishers and fire alarm systems; schedule inspections; complete related inspection and service reports in a timely and accurate manner; and provide customer service excellence to our clients. Additional duties may include assisting in maintaining, cleaning, and testing of fire alarm systems. Qualified candidates must be self-directed, have the ability to work unsupervised, possess mechanical skills, troubleshooting abilities and have excellent communication skills. Candidates must have reliable transportation. Willingness to travel and the ability to work 2nd shift hours are required. The hourly rate is $20/hour. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or equivalent, valid NYS driver’s license, basic computer skills, experience with various hand tools, and the ability to lift fifty pounds. This position is responsible for the oversight of the Health and Safety Service which provides a multitude of safety services to the BOCES and school districts both inside and outside of our regions. Duties/ Responsibilities: - Maintains a comprehensive health, safety, and risk management program for the BOCES and schools in compliance with Federal, State and local regulations.
- Extensive knowledge of NYS Fire Code and prevention; NYS Education Department regulations, including current school safety standards and best practices ; hazardous materials management; related environmental regulations; workplace hazards and mitigation strategies; accident investigation; OSHA safety standards and related plans
- Acts as the liaison with Federal, State, local and private agencies on health and safety matters
- Establishes cooperative working relationships with participating school districts and other agencies
- Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local safety laws, regulations, codes, and rules
- Ability to develop and conduct health and safety procedure training programs
- Conducts safety inspections and audits to assess employee compliance with safety regulations.
