Questar III BOCES announces vacancies for full-time probationary Teaching Assistant positions to support our Elementary Special Education classrooms at Robert H. Gibson Technical School in Troy, NY.

Title - Nursing Assistant - Clinical Nurse

Questar III BOCES announces a vacancy for a part-time (per diem - $55/hr.) Clinical Instructor (RN) position to support high school students enrolled in the Nursing Assistant program located at the Robert Gibson Technical School in Troy, NY.  

This position will instruct and supervise high school Nursing Assistant Program students at a clinical healthcare site (daytime school hours).  Successful candidates will be a role model as professional staff geared towards preparing students to succeed in the profession of Nursing. 

A Valid New York State R.N. license is required.

About

The Teacher's Aide works under the direct supervision of a Certified Classroom Teacher, in partnership with Certified Teaching Assistants, to provide support for instructional activities, classroom management, and student well-being. This role is crucial in assisting educators in creating an effective and positive learning environment, allowing teachers to focus more on individualized instruction and curriculum delivery. The ideal candidate will be patient, adaptable, enthusiastic, and possess a genuine passion for supporting student learning and development.

Responsibilities:

• Instructional Support:

  • Assist the classroom teacher with the implementation of lesson plans and activities.

  • Provide one-on-one or small group support to students struggling with concepts or needing extra practice.

• Classroom Management & Environment:

  • Maintain a positive, organized, and safe classroom environment.

  • Assist with supervising students during non-instructional times, including lunch, recess, and transitions between classes.

• Student Support:

  • Provide assistance to students with special needs as directed by the teacher and IEP/504 plans (e.g., mobility, feeding, personal care, if applicable and trained).

• Administrative & Clerical Support:

  • Assist the teacher with clerical tasks, such as copying, filing, grading papers (non-evaluative), and organizing student records.

  • Prepare bulletin boards and other classroom displays.

• Communication & Professionalism:

  • Communicate effectively and professionally with teachers, staff, students, and parents (as directed by the teacher).

  • Maintain the confidentiality of all student information.

Qualifications:

• Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.

  • Associate's degree or completion of an approved Teacher's Aide program preferred.

  • Candidates with a paraprofessional certificate or equivalent as required by New York State are strongly encouraged to apply.
